California: Reunion/Disneyland

The whole Corey family (about 40 people) gathered in California for our last family reunion before Grandma and pa Corey left on their mission. We all stayed at Jon's (Ben's eldest brother) house in L.A. Jon got us tickets to a Dodgers game and we played baseball and swam and all the girls got our toe nails painted, and we played Wii til the 'wee' hours of the night. Ben, Samantha and I stayed a bit longer and went to Disneyland (our family tradition). While we were at Disneyland Sam started getting sick (the runs). I thought it was teething at first cause she does that when she is teething, but it started getting worse and worse. She had 8 diapers while we were there and her eyes started sinking and she started getting lethargic. Any diarrhea is very scary for a short-gut baby because they can get dehydrated so quickly and it becomes fatal fast, especially if they can't get an IV. So we got her on pedialyte immediately and called her doctors at Primary Children's hospital. They said to get her home asap and focus on getting her hydrated by waking every 1/2 hour and pouring liquid in her mouth with a syringe. Jon got us the first flight out of L.A. in the middle of the night and we got in to Salt Lake early in the morning. We were constantly giving her liquids and she was constantly loosing them. When we got in to her doctor she was well enough to go home!!! So we were able to get her healthy from home, which we always prefer because of the sicknesses that are in the hospitals. We were on constant watch for her to sink back in to dehydration, cause her stools continued to skyrocket (she hit 20 diapers in a 24 hour period) and this lasted for 10 days!! She luckily stayed enough hydrated to stay home, but this was a very scary thing for us. Glad it's over. Anyway California and Disneyland were very fun!
